Face iD
Everyone uses a smartphone and we protect it like a precious thing in the world. The phone was protected physically more than the data inside few years before but now the data we keep on our phone is protected more. So that the digital locks got more secured in phones and it became the most important feature of the smartphone. At the beginning the four-digit pin and characters as passwords were introduced and people began to forget those passwords and the phone manufacturers focused on locks more than anything and came with a new feature called ‘Draw Pattern” and it gave more security than passcodes and it was easier than typing a password or digits of pin so people adapted to this quickly. Change is the only thing that doesn’t change. According to the saying, every company introduced their own locking system in their phones and people got bored of this draw pattern lock and need a change and that time one of the company was Toshiba yeah! you heard it right the first phone to launch with a fingerprint scanner was not Apple its Toshiba and the model was G500 and G900 in 2007. However, it not worked soo efficiently and the people were unable to adapt, the model resulted in a failure. There are two types of fingerprint scanner one is optical and capacitive fingerprint scanner. The optical scanner was old and the way it works is it flashes a light using LED and which reads and stores the data of ridges and valleys in your finger and scans for the same each time and if the matches are of 80% the phone will be unlocked. Due to inaccuracy and delays the capacitive fingerprint scanner/reader was introduced as it also works in the same way and the change is that the image of finger is recorded and an electric signal is used instead of a LED light and it worked with more efficiency and the advantage is you just want to place your finger in it and don’t want to press the button. The main upgrade that was made that a user can place the finger in any direction not only in the angle when he registered. The big giant called Apple introduced Fingerprint scanner in the name of “Touch-id” in 2012 on their iPhone 5s. As it worked so efficiently and perfectly and unlocked the phones in seconds people loved it and bought 5s just to experience the touch-id. This fingerprint lock is now not only used to unlock your phone Apple integrated it with apple pay, and app purchases in the app store and android too use this fingerprint scanner for in-app-purchases. Years passed and technology got developed and this fingerprint scanner too got version 2 of its kind from iPhone 6s and its following phones. Then the major competitor of Apple launched Samsung launched IRIS scanner which actually used the eyes of users to unlock the phone. It uses the mathematical pattern recognition on video images on both irises of the eyes which are unique and cannot be cheated. This iris scanner uses video sensing technology and illumination of infrared light to some small distance and collects the data of the irises and transfers into a digital signal and the sensor senses it and unlocks the phone. This all happens in the moment you blink your eyes. Even though there are some issues with it sometimes it works almost soo good and perfect. Watching this for two to three years mobile manufacturing king The Apple industries thought of unlocking a phone using the face of a user and came with the product called “Face-id”. This advanced technology is presently available in iPhone X which uses a dedicated hardware for recognizing the face of the user. When the user brings near to the face it illuminates infrared light which is invisible to human eyes, the infrared light which flashes out makes 30,000 dots in the face and connects them and it also recognizes if the users face changes in future. However oneplus 5t has the face unlocking feature it doesn’t work in low light since it uses a software to do the process but iPhone’s part of a11 bionic chip neural engine makes this process very easy and it also works efficiently in low light and it cannot be cheated unless you have a twin or clone.
